Health professionals

NCAT hears certain applications and appeals about the regulation and registration of health practitioners and students.

Health professional cases are managed through NCAT's Occupational Division.

Applications and appeals are heard under the Health Practitioner Regulation National Law (NSW) (“the National Law”). NCAT does not receive complaints about health professionals. 

Professional discipline of health professionals

An Application for Disciplinary Findings and Orders filed by a professional body against a health practitioner or student (s 149). The professional body will give a copy of the application and any material relied on to the respondent.

Appealing decisions about conduct of health professionals

An External Appeal filed by a health practitioner or student against a decision of a Committee, a Council or a Performance Review Panel (Div 6 of Pt 8).

Appealing decisions about registration of health professionals

An External Appeal filed by a health practitioner or student against a decision made by a National Board about their registration (s 175).

Reviewing orders about registration of health professionals

An application for review made by a health practitioner or student about an order imposed on or about their registration (s 163A). This includes when a person is seeking an order for reinstatement of registration by a National Board.
