​Guardian​ship Division is mo​ving to Sydney CBD

NCAT's Guardianship Division Registry will be moving from Balmain to the Sydney CBD at the end of March 2016.  

​​​From 5 April 2016 the Guardianship Division's new address will be: 

Level 6, John Maddison Tower 
86-90 Goulburn Street, Sydney

Hearings will no longer be held in Balmain.  Parties should check their notice of hearing for the hearing location venue and time.

Where can I drop off passengers with mobility restrictions?

A drop-off zone is available for Mobility Parking Permit holders in the Goulburn Street Carpark located on the corner of Goulburn and Elizabeth Street. Entry is via Goulburn Street.

Permit holders may drop off passengers and drive out of the carpark without charge.

There are 7 mobility bays available on the left-hand side of the entry to the carpark. The usual rates apply for parking.

How do I get there by public transport?​

Public transport options are readily available. John Maddison Tower is within walking distance of Central, Town Hall and Museum stations, and close to bus routes on Elizabeth and Castlereagh Streets.

​Where can I​​ park?

There are a number of parking stations located in the CBD.  Metered street parking is also available. For more information visit the City of Sydney website.

Mobility Parking Permit holders can also park for certain periods of time in designated parking zones.  This applies to parking zones with meters or ticket machines. Free accessible parking is for the following periods of time:

  • An unlimited amount of time in parking zones of more than 30 minutes
  • Up to 2 hours in parking zones of 30 minutes
  • Up to 30 minutes in 5 minute parking zones​

Can I c​​ycle?

Yes. There are a number of dedicated cycleways around John Maddison Tower.  For​ more information visit the City of Sydney website​.

​What security arrang​ements are in place?

​The NSW Sheriff is responsible for security of courts and tribunals in New South Wales.

Everyone who goes into the John Maddison Tower building must go through an airport-like security check.

You will be asked to walk through a metal detecting scanner. The Sheriff's Officers may also use a hand-held scanner to check you at the entry to the building. 

Laptops, mobile phones, and any items that are in your pockets must be placed in a plastic tray. These and any other items you are carrying such as bags, books, umbrellas must be placed on the conveyor belt to go through the x-ray machine.

No knives, scissors, alcohol, helmets or dangerous objects can be brought into the building.
